BMW made a Ford Mondeo.
-Both are midsized hatchbacks
-Both have Hoffmeister kinks (sort of)
-Both have slightly more luggage space than their sedan counterparts
-Both have blue and white badges

Don't get me wrong, I like the 4 Gran Coupe but it reminds me too much of the Ford. Also, the Ford is a little more practical and has a rear wiper. Hatchbacks need their rear wipers mkay?

Why doesn't the 4-series hatchback have a rear wiper? That's silly, almost as silly as the new sedans with very stubby trunks that should just be hatchbacks, like the US Fusion, the same as the Mondeo you pictured except the glass doesn't open. The trunk opening is the same size (I mean from the rear window back, if that makes sense), and that rear window is probably the same as well.

You don't need a rear wiper unless the back glass is near vertical.

WRONG!!!!!!
They *always* come in handy, regardless of back glass shape. Many coupes and sedans outside the US come with a rear wiper, even international versions of common cars sold over here.

It's a shame that the Europeans don't understand aerodynamic principles...

It's a shame that most Americans don't understand how useful the rear wiper is, regardless of aerodynamics. But then again, most people don't even look out the back window anyway, not to mention the fact that they've shrunk in size to the point where you need a fucking camera just to back up.
I've driven an Integra hatchback in the rain (fastback slope), and the rear wiper was awesome! The only real problem is that it only wipes about half of the window.
I'd love to see rear wipers in every car.

I still see no need for a rear wiper when the water on the back glass is simply removed by forward motion. Unless you drive everwhere in reverse.

When you use a rear wiper, you'll discover water that wasn't truly totally removed by forward motion alone. For example, water from the roof rolls back onto the window, so the same forward motion that removes the water on the window brings new water to replace it!
But then again, I also like those cute lil headlight wipers.

Used it on my father's minivan, works well. However, every other car's windows have been just fine with out a wiper.
